5 Top Tips for your Country Style Wedding in Cornwall

Terry from Eaton Photography shares some quick tips on getting married, country style!

A Festival themed country wedding

I LOVE a country wedding. I cannot emphasize enough how much I love them. Give me a farm or barn, some wild flowers, a couple in love and I'm as happy as a pig in.... well, you get the point!

However, after photographing many different styles, I believe these points should be given some extra consideration. Are there more things to consider? Of course! But these seem to be the factors that can really make the difference.

So, here are my 5 top tips, I hope you find it useful

Tip #1 - Choosing your Perfect Country Wedding Venue in Cornwall

Choose one of many gorgeous rustic venues available that are surrounded by Cornwall's picturesque countryside or coastline. Consider barns, farmhouses, glamping campsites or gardens with scenic views to capture the essence of the countryside.

Does the venue have an area ideal for your wedding images? Perhaps it has a stream or it is close to a picturesque meadow, romantic beach cove or an idyllic church with beautiful grounds to photograph the two of you in?

There are so many great venues but make sure you visit and ask plenty of questions* and ensure they can deliver what you're looking for. What's their guest capacity? Can you have external caterers? Do they have a well stocked bar? Accommodation? Toilets?

Tip #2 - Natural Country Style Decor Wins!

Embrace Cornwall's natural beauty by incorporating elements like wildflowers, wooden accents, and locally sourced materials into your country style decor.

Think about using hay bales for seating, fairy lights and festoon lighting for ambiance, and vintage signage for a charming touch. Your supplier can help with advice on how to realize your dream look and bring your idea to life.

I have a whole list of suppliers who can help, just ask!

Tip #3 - Local Cornish Cuisine

Who doesn't love a gorgeous grazing board? Or maybe a hog roast is your thing? Well the good news is that Cornwall is Food Heaven and you can have pretty much whatever you desire!

Highlight Cornwall's culinary delights by featuring local produce and dishes on your menu. Consider a traditional feast with dishes like Cornish pasties, incredible local seafood, Cornish Yarg cheese, grazing boards, Cornish cream tea, and locally brewed cider or ale. Yum!

Tip #4 - Y'all should Dress to Impress

So, your country attire and accessories...

Opt for attire that compliments the country theme, such as relaxed and bohemian wedding attire for both the bridal party and guests. Accessories like flower crowns, tweed jackets, Wellington boots or Cowboy boots can add a rustic flair.

There some amazing accessories and decorations that can really tie the theme together - start with a mood board on Pinterest and let your creativity go wild!

Tip #5 - Entertaining your party

Lastly, lets talk about how to keep your guests entertained.

Why not provide entertainment that reflects Cornwall's culture and heritage. Consider hiring a folk band or Ceilidh band for lively music and dancing. Acoustic musicians for the daytime leading into a more lively evening with a band or DJ.

If you opt for a DJ, ensure he has your special playlist that you have compiled.

You could also incorporate activities like lawn games or a camp bonfire / firepit for a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere. I love to play fun games like Beer Run with the bridal party and groomsmen to get fantastic fun and candid photographs!
